Julie's paintings have emerged from observations of natural forms and places she frequently visits surrounding her studio in St Ives.
With the counterpoints of land and ever changing sea and light, works have evolved from various starting points, the incidental, the inbetween, junctions and high viewpoints. Julie adjusts the painting continually, assembling the rhythmic forms in a personal response to the landscape.
Creating energetic abstract charcoal drawings outside, the preparatory studies lead to small works in gouache on heavy watercolour paper which are considered as paintings in their own right.
Julie's abstract paintings also include oil on canvas and paper. Her work is strongly distinguished by colour.
Julie attended Central Saint Martins College of Art in London exploring colour interaction and subjective use of colour and Insight School of Art in London.

Julie was awarded ARWS 2015 & RWS 2018.
